Barrie
I’m the dad, the husband and the man of this particular Bramley clan. I keep fairly busy doing the following stuff:
Becoming a dad – this is possibly the most important endeavor I have (depending on whether you’re asking the girls or Leish). I do try my best, and over the years I have received a mixed rating. I’ve certainly not perfected consistency. And I certainly haven’t attained complete ‘amazing dad’ status, although there have been moments I’ve come close (my opinion). So I’m working hard in this space. Really hard.
Becoming a husband – like I said above, this is right up there on the top of my list of what’s completely important in my world. Leish and I have been married for almost 17 years now, and again my ratings have been a little all over the place. Don’t know if this is just a flaw I have, or a hand that life deals all of us (obviously I’d prefer the latter – there’s less blame and I’m grouped with friends)? Leish is the most amazing, wonderful and beautiful person in my world. She has been since I first met her. She is my best friend, my closest ally and my most favourite person to do just about anything with. I do love her (5).
Becoming a man – a renewed focus for me. On one level you have a blue print dictating this particular journey, but on another, as men, we do get to determine or influence who we are and what we learn as we go.
Becoming a Chief Imagination Officer – I, together with two mates (and along the way many other amazing people), started a business called TomorrowToday around about 7 years ago. It’s been a highlight in many respects and I’ve grown and learned much because of those I have played with in this particular space.
Becoming a writer – I’m not a great writer (my grammar and splling suck). But I do enjoy it, and I do have a fantasy that maybe, when I grow up, I’ll become one (whatever that means). Currently I write bits and bobs that get published in newspapers, magazines, and blogs (my current particular focus sits with two blogs in terms of regular stuff – TomorrowToday’s Blog and Jozi Kids Blog)
Becoming Connected – This journey is all about the web and how we connect. It fascinates me, and I think many interesting thoughts and solutions can be found when exploring these connections. So you can find me on:
Becoming a Tinkerer – I do get bored easily and I like to try new and interesting things. A great starter and mediocre finisher in many of these pursuits. But I keep on doing, playing and tinkering when the opportunity allows, hoping that one day an opportunity will come off.
