Boats on the River

The Scooter girls and I hit the river last week (a full 500m) from the house. We went down to the low level bridge, to build us some boats. To race of course.

Polystyrene, twigs and leaves where the materials gathered and used. And some fine looking boats were created.

I was tasked with going up stream, birthing these babies and then making my way back (negotiating one road on the way) to join Jordi and Carli to watch the race.

Mine sucked completely. It took forever to get to us. Jordi and Carli’s had arrived ages before, but had then gotten trapped in a rapid. Mine gently and pathetically arrived, and as if scared of the rapid, took a different course and meandered out of site. Something of the tortoise andnthe hare in this story.

The long and the short is that we’re now enthusiastic boat builders. We’re off again today. This time armed with pliers and screw drivers. In the mean time, I need to keep the girls away from stories of Noah until this phase passes : )

Scooters

We just finished one crazy fun weekend. It included:

* Drive-In for High School Musical 3
* Beauty and the Beast at Monte Casino (definately worth going to)
* Spur
* Mac Donalds

And I’m sure, the best by far was an investment in 3 X Scooters. One for Jordi, Carli and I (Leish excused herself from owning one, although it wont be long). All different, and all, from each of our perspectives, a dream come true. We’ll have to expand on the story when all three are in hand (mine hasn’t arrived yet) This morning we hit Emerentia Dam for their large network of bricked paths for a ‘scoot’ around.

See both pics here : )
